Finely carved Australian black jade box with beach found bone inside, suspended on hand braided nylon cord with shell toggle.
Based on ancient religious containers containing relics - usually the bones of saints. The subtitle and materials are a homage to the contemporary
carving movement of the 1980s, culminating in the "Bone Stone Shell" exhibtion of 1987 and now considered a pivotal moment in our jewellery and craft
history. To many of the current generation of carvers these artists are the "Patron Saints" of our art form, and I wanted to acknowledge this in my work.
